Regular Check ups ...

This is the core of modern dentistry. Scientific knowledge makes it possible to reduce dental disease considerably. This requires a joint commitment between patients, dentists and the dental team.

Regular check ups are the basis of successful preventive care. Before your initial dental check you will be asked to complete a pre treatment questionnaire. This will allow you to communicate to the dentist your specific dental needs and objectives. Your consultation with the dental surgeon will probably begin with a discussion regarding your current dental health and any problems or concerns. A full dental chart will then be recorded. This will include a record of the condition of your teeth and gums and the health of the soft tissues in your mouth. The function of you jaw joint will be checked along with the muscles and lymph glands.

Magnifying Loupes
Dentists routinely wear masks and glasses to prevent cross infection between patient and dentist. In our practice you'll often see the dentists wearing magnifying binoculars. This isn't because we have impaired sight! Magnifying loupes help the dentist carry out intricate and detailed work with accuracy that is not possible without magnification. Where magnifying loupes do need to be used they result in higher quality work. This is just another sign of quality assurance but may not be immediately obvious.
