Our Team is dedicated to giving patients individual care. Our dentists and practitioners complimentary to dentistry each having a specific role, in which they are formally trained and qualified to ensure that your experience is both safe and comfortable.

We have three experienced dentists, a practice manager, a dental therapist and five dental nurses.

The practice is led by Dr Christopher Holden.

Christopher Holden qualified from Sheffield University in 1981. He has worked in both the hospital services and general dental practice. With a special interest in pain and anxiety control, he regularly lectures and teaches on postgraduate courses to doctors and dentists in the field of conscious sedation techniques. He has taught widely in the UK and at major meetings in Europe, Africa and Australia. Christopher has produced two video films on the safe practice of intravenous sedation, one of which has been used in over 20 countries. He has a strong commitment to postgraduate education for the benefit of the patients, having served on professional committees within the Royal College of Surgeons of England, The Department of Health as well as locally. Christopher is immediate past president of the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry (SAAD), which is a registered charity, devoted to the teaching and advancement of pain and anxiety control in dentistry. SAAD is well known to dentists around the world.

He is currently president of The International Federation on Dental Anaesthesiology Societies (IFDAS). This is the global grouping of national pain and anxiety control societies. The president of IFDAS has never been awarded to a United Kingdom practitioner before.

 

 

Dr Anita Patel joined the practice in 1996. She qualified from Sheffield University in 1995. Anita has a special interest in Concious Sedation techniques and orthodontics (braces).

Anita enjoys running and recently completed a half-marathon. She has two small children whom she naturally spends most of her spare time with. She enjoys skiing and scuba diving holidays but since the arrival of her boys she has discovered the joys of caravanning.

Dr Miles Grout qualified in 2001 from Sheffield dental hospital. Since then he has worked part-time at the Chesterfield practice. He has a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry and sedation treatments for anxious patients. In January 2005 he is to begin a Masters Degree programme in London in Restorative Dentistry.

When not thinking about teeth he can be found climbing in the Peak District.

Our dental surgeons are chosen particularly for their interest in the care of anxious and frightened patients. This ensures that our patients can confidently benefit from the comfortable techniques with which they are familiar. The skills required for working in this kind of environment area not universally found amongst practising dental surgeons. Our dentists are experienced in their fields of interest and are committed to postgraduate education for your benefit.
