Christopher Holden has been providing a referral service for the anxious and frightened patient for over 25 years.
Originally with a postgraduate background in general anaesthesia for dentistry, Christopher has been active in promoting high standards in conscious sedation for dentistry, educationally as well as being fully involved in service provision. He is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Conscious Sedation for Dentistry of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Royal College of Anaesthetists. He is one of the authors of the national guidance documents "Standards for Conscious Sedation in Dentistry: Alternative Techniques" of the Joint Royal Colleges and also "Conscious Sedation and Provision of Dental Care" published by the Standing Dental Advisory Committee of the Department of Health.
Christopher is Past President of the International Federation of Dental Anaesthesiology Societies (IFDAS), the global grouping of national sedation and anaesthesia societies in dentistry. He is also a past President of SAAD, the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry. He is a member of the Working Party on Standardised Evaluation of Conscious Sedation Practice for Dentistry in the UK providing a tool kit for Primary Care Trusts and commissioning bodies for implementing national standards.
The practice provides conscious sedation services not only locally and regionally but has patients travelling from as far away as Italy, Japan and Australia.
