Denise Harcourt Practice Manager RDN (UK) Cert HE DPM (GDC No. 154974)

Our Team is led by our practice manager, Denise Harcourt, A qualified dental nurse herself she has worked in general practice since 1993. This experience has given her a clear understanding of the needs of patients and the importance of continuing education for all the dental team in ensuring that we provide a quality assured service to all our patients.
Denise explains how patients remain the main focus of the practice and its team:
"I meet new patients all the time for whom fear of the dentist has had a crippling effect on their everyday life and their smile. Our practice can offer anxiety control and sedation techniques, and the support of a caring, well informed and professional team. This allows frightened patients, possibly for the first time, to undertake the dental treatment that they so desperately need. The change in a patient after the completion of such a course of dental treatment is often dramatic both in their general health and personal happiness. When patients visit the practice once and experience this level of professional care provided by the whole team here, they tend to stay for many years".
As a practice we place a strong emphasis on continuing professional development for our nursing team. When trainee nurses join the practice they embark on a vigorous in-house and external training schedule. They initially work towards the level 3 Diploma in Oral Health/ Dental Nursing.
A personal development plan is drawn up for everyone individually, and then ongoing training is tailored to meet the needs of individual team members, the team as a whole and most importantly our patients.
Our nurses are therefore very knowledgeable. They keep up to date with modern techniques and materials and will be happy to answer questions you may have about the treatments we provide and any other aspect of your visits to the practice.
The practice achieved Investor's in People recognition in October 2001 and Denplan Excel Accreditation each year since 2003. Denplan Excel is a gold standard quality assurance benchmark both approved by the dental profession and the Patients Society. This is a true reflection of how committed, professional and hard working our whole team is.
Our nurses are friendly and approachable. They have an empathy with patients who are anxious or frightened and work very hard to ensure that your every visit to us is as stress-free as possible".

Dental nursing has been a real change of career direction for me. But, I feel like I have been part of the team for years. Although training to be a Registered Dental Nurse is very challenging, I have the support of Christopher and the team, and this alongside my formal learning at college, means I am progressing very quickly.
I hope to qualify later this year and take on a full nurse’s role at the practice”.
